Hi, Here is a nice doubled eyelid south that found while searching several BU 1951 rolls. I ended up finding 11. Steve

Is this a new find? I can only find one listing that shows a doubled eyelid on Wexler 001 and Copper Coins 001p and it has different doubling as far as I can tell and more obverse doubling all over the coin.

Every 1951 001 Double Die on CONECA, Coppercoins and Wexler is a Proof coin. Unless I missed something, it is a new find. Steve

Steve, I looked too and I believe you are correct! This is not one of my areas of understanding but if you found 11 of these, and it's determined to not be a die gouge (which I don't think it is) then you may very well have a Discovery! Are you planning to send it to John Wexler or Dr. Wiles?

Did you find any of the same die markers on those 11?

That is interesting... Could very well be a class 4??? Are those abrasions or die flow lines around the area of the possible DDO???

Doubled eyelids are Class 4 as Jim mentioned. As far as this one goes, I am not 100% sure it is actually a doubled eyelid. It could be a die gouge. My concern is the lack of it being elongated. Normally, that is one of the diagnostics that differentiated it from a well placed gouge.

Looks more like a die dot or gouge to me. What about some other markers? Have a look at variety Vista DDO 003 the eye looks similar................dinkyblue
