Found this in a roll of 2014.
The area in question is rim to rim running above and parallel to VDB.
It appears to be a disturbance beneath the copper plating. There are 2 or 3 linear depressions (left side) and a raised area (far right side) that are under the copper plating as well as the "line" connecting them.
I'm not sure how the zinc core is manufactured and hope someone here has some knowledge on the zinc core manufacturing process they can share.
Is the zinc cold-formed with rollers or poured in a molten state and then rolled or scraped to the proper thickness?
I welcome all comments and thanks for looking. Cliff

Be verwy verwy quiet... I'm hunting coins!!!
It's my understanding that the Ball Jar Lid company somewhere in TN started supplying the blanks to the mint, I think it was back in 1982 so that would be the copper plated zinc planchets. No idea how the blanks are made but it starts with a zinc core and then I think the copper is electroplated. I always thought zinc was blue when it shows through a zincoln.
