The splits on this one (http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1956&die_id=1956d1mm015&die_state=mds) are so small it is very difficult to get pics of them. Thanks for looking.

Nice find Larry... I do not think yours is CCs 015 tho http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1956&die_id=1956d1mm015&die_state=mds Your MM may be slightly to far north but is to far west... CCs 017 http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1956&die_id=1956d1mm017&die_state=lds is a little closer in position and appearance but I am not sure... I will check some more a little later today!!!

Jim, the MM placement does look better with 017 but I don't see the tiny bit of a lower bar and I still see what looks like a very tiny split on the upper serif. Also, I don't see the 017 die markers.

The only other close one is CCs 023 http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1956&die_id=1956d1mm023&die_state=lds best I can tell any way... Would it be ok to download your date/MM image for research and an overlay???

Yes, please download it Jim. Maybe mine isn't listed because it is too minor. As always I very much appreciate your help!! Larry

Thanks Larry... I appreciate it... I think it may be the die state that could be throwing me off???

With permission from Copper Coins and Bobs continued support I did 3 overlays... On the overlay of CCs 015 http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1956&die_id=1956d1mm015&die_state=mds when the MM is aligned the date, jacket and rim slide out of alignment to the south... On CCs 017 http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1956&die_id=1956d1mm017&die_state=lds everything is really close in alignment but the split on the lower serif just does not look correct compared to Larrys... On CCs 023 http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1956&die_id=1956d1mm023&die_state=lds except for the difference in die stage and circ wear everything lines up also the location and angle of the lower split appears to match Larrys coin the best... In my opinion Larrys coin is a match to CCs 023... It may be a good idea to have Bob come and check it out!!!

Jim, I sincerely appreciate the time and effort you have expended to bring this to a conclusion!! It is amazing how close 017 and 023 are in the MM placement to mine. Thanks once again for all your help!! Larry

Any time... I like over anal eyesing :LOL_Hair: It really surprised me at how close 017 and 023 are... If memory serves me correct some one had a couple of RPMs from other years that are really close in appearance and location between 2 different dies??? The deciding factor for me was the location, angle and shape of the split in the lower serif!!! The die stage difference between yours and CCs sample is big.. It would have been nice to add this one to CC... One day maybe... I did not find this one on VV so maybe a trip to Wiles would be an idea???
