I, for the life of me, can't attribute this DDR. It's not a monster, but is definitely a class 6 DDR. It has moderate flow lines associated with a later die state, but the wheat stems appear to show some class 2 separation. I may be missing a die marker that shows in a photo. Insert the LCF family.

Unless the obverse die was changed it won't match up with any that list a crack around VDB as a marker. I'm just hoping someone notices something I missed. She has some beautiful color and luster. Thanks in advance!

Did you get this off ebay? I saw a 1939 DDR that looked much like this one very recently I decided not to bid on last minute.

Yes sir. I'm sure it's the one you saw. I know we both pick the seller. The color was just too nice for me not to bid low and take a chance.

VV images for -008 seem to be a similar die state (LDS) judging from the die flow lines and die wear (tops of letters at the rim).

The other varieties, being earlier die states, may have different markers which will make it difficult to attribute for sure.

Edit: I noticed the thickness seems heavier on the top left (E PLURIBUS) and what looks like die pitting (Rust?) around the lower stalks.
Hope this helps. (I've got to boogey or I'd look a little closer.)

Love the luster and nice even brown toning on an unc like that!

Jay, check out CC 1DO-004 (http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1939&die_id=1939p1dr004&die_state=lds) / VV DDR-004 (http://varietyvista.com/01a%20LC%20Doubled%20Dies%20Vol%201/1939PDDR004.htm) / DD WDDR-005 (http://doubleddie.com/606434.html) .

CC says "Light to moderate extra thickness shows on the upper left and lower right outer devices. Doubling is almost non existant in UNUM and the upper right wheat."
And I think I can make out a die crack over VDB on yours as well s a raised line(?) around the lower left bust similar to VV images

I think yours would have to be an earlier die state. Not nearly as much die deterioration on yours so markers will be difficult.

I could be way off base because CC, VV and DD have some odd "thickness" (die deterioration?) on TES & RCA (STATES AMERICA) that is not visible on yours at all.

Sorry it isn't more definitive for you.
