This is a Class 9 Doubled die. Probable cause would be a shift during the single squeeze process. I do collect some of these. I like anything different so I hang onto them. Never know what will come of them. Coppercoins has a large number of this kind of doubling, on lincoln cents, in their listings. Most seem to be in between columns 6 and 7, of those columns and/or of the statue. However not restricted to that area. The one you posted would probably be listable due to the number of points of doubling.

Anyway, I like them.

You may want to hang on to that 96d ddr as there are not to many known for 96 - quite a few collectors have started series collections of these modern ddr coins and some of the prices for them are getting quite high -

inetdist is absolutely correct.

It is crazy the prices and attention some of these "less dramtic" DDOs are getting. With cents minted in the billions, finding one of these maybe produced in a quatity of 100,000 to a quarter of a million is tough.
