Just a quick hi to jump in. I've been joining some of the internet coin forums lately, hoping to share and mostly learn. My main area of collecting is Lincoln cents and their varieties and errors. Started collecting in 1969 but didn't get serious until 1980-81. I started learning about varieties and collecting them in 1996. I have a real appreciation for those who are trully talented and knowledgable in this area and who share their expertise online. I've learned so much and am always motivated by so many friendly helpful people. Of course, loving the lincoln cent helps a lot too.
Thanks
Rock

thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Kloccwork, you heard about my recent wheats find? I'm still sorting, haha. I think the varieties are going to be pretty good. Just a feeling of course. I will definately be tuned into the search for sure.

Thanks again,
Rock

People are eager to help here, and will weigh in on your questions promptly, which is a good thing. One hard thing is finding out your cent is common, which happens mostly, but it makes it special when you hit paydirt. Some members post their finds up by just describing the coin, and people even look at that, which is how information starved folks are for data on pennies. It's important to get a good camera and learn pics fast, saves ya having to say what you are seeing. There is a camera thread showing expensive rigs and bargain basement set-ups which, amazingly, produce marvelous results equivalent to expensive cameras.
There is Coppercoins.com, which is a stand-up brilliant site that has gazillions of pics of truly one of a kind rarities, as well as the majors. This site has major listings, and is also supplemented by having Coppercoins here as a member as well. Billy Crawford is DVN of Die Variety News, and his take on coin oddities is unrivaled in the hobby. He has two guides out which are essential, like Coppercoins. Finally, all the experts actually answer a question on a coin if you post a pic. That is informational as anything out there in the hobby, and real time relevant. Enjoy, and prepare to go broke.

Thank you Legend for the good sound advice. Like I said in my intro post, I've been at this a long time so I am pretty well set up with some pretty good equipment. I look forward to sharing with everyone.
