That's pretty extreme Adrian!! I think your terminology me be off though. I don't think the orange peel is not related to blisters. Link (http://www.error-ref.com/orange-peel-texture/)
A coin only a mother could love. As for the terminology, I went with a broader definition on this term myself, as I have seen it used in many different cases.
Orange Peel: A somewhat nebulous term to describe a coin whose surface has a textured bumpy surface like that of an orange. Coins can get this orange peel look from different causes including annealing and polishing issues of the die, or from die deterioration, or also from plating problems on plated coins.

Nah, you're fine. There isn't really a "correct" definition. It was just a term that got thrown out there and isn't really "official" in the lexicon as far as I am concerned. Maybe I will bring it up with Mike D to get his opinion on it. If we going to all use the term, then we should try to get on the same page about it. That's the problem with language, though.

I was referred to the term before in the forum on a similar coin. The plating prob is extreme and I'll keep it as a good example of that until I find another one even worse.
I don't think it's the one listed in the link Jim or any other DD. Also, interesting link to the orange peel error... The edge of the coin looks pretty normal to me as can be seen in the pic attached. I also think it's an interesting coin and so much problem in the plating is unusual for the Shields from what I have seen so far.
Thank you for your interest and help,

Thanks for the follow up Adrian... Good thing it wasn't a DD... I haven't seen many shields, either, with that bad of a plating issue... At least they're not like the early frankenzincs!!!
Jim (A.K.A. Elmer Fudd) Be verwy verwy quiet... I'm hunting coins!!! Good Hunting!!!
