They will! I pre-ordered 5 proof sets, 5 mint sets and one silver proof using the subscription service.

I understood that it was just the special set with the Lincoln $1.00 that was going to have the Copper composition Lincoln cents, and limited to 50,000 sets.

All the mint and proof sets will contain an alloy consisting of 95% copper, 3% zinc and 2% tin that matches the alloy used in the original 1909 version.

Did you catch the comment about the Proof Sets?

States the subscription service will start with the 2010 Sets. However, the Silver Proof & Regular Mint sets will be for 09's... So, unless you, and or others, were on the subscription list since last year, looks like we/us will have to fight the crowds.

That must have just changed last night. It did not say that yesterday morning. It may be too late to get the 2009 proof set subscription now.

I saw that, it was confusing in that the heading says 2009, the body description says 2010.......there were other typos as well...one of the links said the cents will have the original 1907 composition while another said 1909 composition....

Do any of you break up the proof sets, mint sets.......I had a coin dealer near me where I used to live, that would break them open to sell the S proof coins individually......Since there was several I wanted to collect this year, I was thinking of buying one to open....

What are the thoughts on breaking open the enclosed proof/mint set protective cases....any suggestions?

I broke open 2-91 proofs sets cause it was cheaper that way to get the 2 Lincolns I needed and sold off the other coins making a couple bucks overall. Normally I dont break em open.

To crack or not to crack, is the million dollar question... Lets put it this way, if the Lincoln Pennies are indeed the Copper ones and if by chance the Mint made a boo boo in their listing and actually sends me the 09 sets I ordered, I will be cracking them out and slabbing them... But, that's me - I take risks... However, if there wasn't the rumor that the Mint may go on a break and if the Pennies were not the new Lincolns - I would not crack them open...

I was ordering this Proof Set, put it in the shopping cart - poof, my router goes down. When I'm back up, and go to log in, I get this error message from the Mint:

"The United States Mint is performing routine system maintenance. The system maintenance is scheduled from 12:00am until 8:00am Eastern Time. During this time period you will not be able to access the Catalog. We apologize for any inconvenience." :(

What a joke the mint is. Why would they schedule system mantenance on the release date of anything. All I wanted to do was see if they are processing my order and to see for giggles if they sold out the formative years yet. The mint is another fine example of our government in action. Joe

Well scratch that..it just came back up and my order status form is fixed, only my 2 orders for today....It seems they had some system glitches and it went down to resolve them...

I got my 2009 mint set subscription order in this morning and received an email confirmation, and this afternoon I managed to get my 2009 proof set ordered.....I had some trouble on the site, and it appears from my order status I have two of them ordered, though I only received 1 email confirming 1 of the orders.....we'll see if when it comes back up I still show 2 ordered...if so, I may have an extra for somebody if they are unable to order.

Im curious how many people pimp out the Lincolns from the proof set and how much they charge for them.

Not sure about these, but I have always only purchased the lincolns seperate from the proof sets from my local dealer....typically $3.00 a piece on most of them

Right, so is it the Mint Proof Set (The one that was just released today) or the Mint Uncirculated (The one that will be released this summer), that has the original 1909 amount of copper, or is it both sets - I am absolutely confussssed now...

I wish now that I had not let my Coinworld subscription run out...

Its the one released today that is copper. I asked them

Brad

Under coins and metals; annual coin sets will have same composition as the 1909 cent ( 95% copper and whatever other metal it said ).

Brad
06-02-2009, 05:01 PM
Yeah, I think it is going to be Mint and Proof sets with 90 percent copper.

But is one of the sets really limited to only 50,000 or is that just a roomer?
Also will the mint set be satin finish or business strike?

Brad
06-02-2009, 05:28 PM
I think there is going to be a special set with 4 cents and a Lincoln Silver Dollar Commem. They are supposed to be limited to 50,000. That is what I have heard and read, but I have not seen anything from the mint itself.

The United States Mint's policy is to ship in-stock products within 1 to 2 weeks from the date an order is placed. However, due to current fulfillment issues we are experiencing shipping delays on all orders. It is taking 4 or 5 weeks to process and ship orders to customers. The United States Mint expects to resolve these issues soon and return to our normal shipping policy of 1 to 2 weeks. We regret the inconvenience to our valued customers and appreciate their patience and understanding.

Im sure they knew this before they started selling them. The Mint is nothing more then any eBay scammer if you ask me. A scammer that CAN change the agreement after the sale is final. Went from IN STOCK to FULLFILLMENT ISSUES..??????..

What a load of :WVP-BS01:

That's good news. My two sets arrived last Friday and no varieties were found, One of the dimes had a struck thru area (small). Keep us posted Billy.

It was only logical with all the FY business strike coinage, that a proof DDR would show up.

Just to update, I am currently working hard on upcoming Die Variety News (DVN) (http://www.dvnmagazine.com/) Supplement Issue #4. This update issue will continue with the FY varieties illustrating FY CDDR-007 through at least for the moment as I write this, CDDR-013. Of course if the FY proof does indeed turn out to be genuine DDR, which from the images it does look like it, then it will also be included in the update issue #4.

Additionally, I have discovered very important analysis on a couple of already reported and published FY DDRs that is mind-boggling and this very important information will also be published in issue #4. Not only is it relevant to the FY coinage, it is, to the best of my knowledge, a first for the Lincoln cent series!

So, stay-tuned. It's wild and crazy. I hope to have issue #4 uploaded and ready for viewing by this coming weekend.

All the Best,
Billy (dvn)
