Here is a 2nd 1940 DDR I found in searching the wheats I recently purchased. VV (http://www.varietyvista.com/01a%20LC%20Doubled%20Dies%20Vol%201/1940PDDR004.htm) CC (http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1940&die_id=1940p1dr004&die_state=mds) W (http://doubleddie.com/595534.html) Thanks for looking.

Looking good Larry J! Very nice 1940 DDR! Your other 1940 had a travelling buddy! Heck, before you're finished with that wheat bag you might have a whole family!

I have been very fortunate Vivien because many of the wheats I have purchased appear not to be thoroughly searched. Those two 1940 DDRs have been around for 79 years and never discovered. On the other hand I purchased bricks of copper memorials that appear to have been thoroughly searched. You never know for sure even if you ask and even then you don't know until you search them.

So true Larry J! Just like I've seen Ed type several times... "people look for different things"! And in my own words "most people are not as good at searching as WE are"!

It doesn't matter either way with you Larry J - if it's in there - you will find it!

Nice find Larry... I am not 100% sure but yours may be an EDS/Stage A??? On CCs MDS (http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1940&die_id=1940p1dr004&die_state=mds) there are abrasions from the E to the P of EPU that I do not see on yours... On VVs Stage C (http://www.varietyvista.com/01a%20LC%20Doubled%20Dies%20Vol%201/1940PDDR004.htm) UNUM shows signs of some heavy die wear from the letters to the rim that is not on yours... Last but not least on Wexlers 007 (http://doubleddie.com/595534.html) there is some heavy die wear on the 1st U of UNUM and yours still looks nice and strong???
