I've built a new Copy Stand system similar to my System-9 but with lower cost in mind. See the system on my website:

Instead of the expensive granite base, I'm using a larger wood base. Stability and vibration dampening are still very good. I'm also using a simpler bellows from Novoflex, which has a single attachment. I chose this bellows because it has an interesting feature...there is a small thumbwheel adjustment on the front of the bellows that allows fine focus control, allowing me to eliminate the fine focus stage and reduce system price without compromising functionality.
Mounting the lights directly to the wood base further reduces costs, again without reducing functionality.
Because of the above changes, I'm able to sell System-10 for $400 without camera, or $550 including a Canon DSLR. This is $200 less than System-9, so much more economical!
