It seems that I'm seeing faint letters and such on this coin. Straight across from Abe's chin it almost appears to be a faint image of the right side of a memorial cent going straight up to he right of Abe's head... there appears to be a small D above the left side of the first T in trust on the rim... being the memorial cent didn't come out til '59 so that's prolly not possible, but that's what it looks like lol I see an N and an E near the upper rim and other letters faintly... also seeing letters in Abe's hair and to the left of his head. On the reverse I'm seeing letters running contour above the O and N in ONE CENT, below the left side of PLURIB. This may turn out to be just my eyes forming shapes but it looks like it was struck on something already struck or maybe a clash of some sorts? I've studied this thing over n over n over the entire day and seeing the same things on my scope and my eye loupe. It is the correct weight at 3.14g.

Is that a big raised (looks raised in the pic?) gouge between the D and the rim?
For the most part it sounds like pareidolia from a lot of chatter on the coin, maybe it was stored against a memorial and got some stains but just as likely to be random marks.
My only advice is that if you have enough coins to search, don't spend a day looking at anything. If it's a good thing you'll probably know it right away. if unsure put it aside and keep looking.
Pareidolia can be pretty amazing. I saw a half dollar at a coin show that had a really detailed evil looking face in the toning.
I go smoke in my garage, in one area in the knock down texture on the wall there is a whole group of characters. I could never draw such funny characters, one is like a bird man then several are guys with big bellies, shoes and faces. It's all random stuff like you might see looking at clouds.
Reminds me of this sandwich for $28K LOL

I call it my pair of doiliesThere appears to be a bunch of nicks and dings all over the coin plus the lack of circ wear it may have been in some ones drawer for many years picking up all kinds of brain teasing anomalies
It is cool looking as I can see them also since you pointed them out
Group pair of doilies
I do not think acetone would take anything off the coin since it all appears to be PSD!!!
