Error Other | 1982 P Nice Concentric die scratches.

This is one of the nicest examples of concentric die scratches I've found yet.

    Thanks for looking, Jon.

Looks like it was abraded using a rotary style tool... If it were lathe lines they would be centered... On another subject - Is that a crack off the T of LIBERTY??? Also the Ys east arm looks twice as thick as the west arm and the SW corner off the I looks indented like we see on some other Class 6 DDs??? Even your E of WE looks extra thick with some ski slopes??? Not sure tho since this is a LD??? Take a look at Wexlers DDOs and CCs 003!!!

Thanks Jim!! I did not know if that would be a good term to use or not, (concentric die scratches). I know these are from abrasions to the die and not lathe lines but the "concentric" term is usually associated with lathe lines. I'll try and get some pics of the areas in question on the obverse. Like many LD 82's, I did my best to make this a DDO but I don't think so.

I took some pics without the horrible scope lights and all I'm seeing is extreme deterioration Jim. That, paired with the thick look of the LD 82, is all there is here. Copper by the way.

There isn't really an "official" term for it, but concentric is an accurate and suitable word for this. I think I would call them centrally-located concentric die scratches. Perhaps I'll make an entry for it on error- ref.
All opinions expressed are not necessarily shared by willbrooks or his affiliates. Taking them may result in serious side effects. Results may vary. Offer not valid in New Jersey.

Thanks Viv!! I thought you had used this term before, that's why I was comfortable with it.
