Finally got this cent back graded MS 64 RED. Other than the 2 carbon spots it is a great looking cent and EDS.

I'm really surprised they graded it with the spots Bob. Usually spots means environmental damage. That in my history with PCGS - you were very lucky!
What a special DDO beauty you have there!! Very hard to top that one!! Congrats!!

Eric - Carbon spots as long as they are only superficial will grade, but they will also down grade. If they where not there, I would think it would be a 65. Now here is another coin that I got back and was surprised it graded at all. 10 years ago, it would have come back with a no grade for planchet flaws. This was cracked out of a ICG MS 65 Holder. shockingly it even graded MS 66 - 1943 DDR. Check out the obv. So things are a little looser on the grading floor these days.

Odd that it wouldn't grade years ago since it was that way when struck and not PSD.
