OK since Jon is hooking me up with the Morgan win, I decided to have a contest myself.
Im putting this coin up for auction today. It will end in 7 days.
Easy CONTEST, Guess the price!!!

Closest to the end price, yes you can go over, wins a 1956-D FS-502 (http://www.lincolncentforum.com/forum/showthread.php?48701-1956-D-Roll-SCORE!!!). One of the coins I just pulled from an OBW roll.
Must have at least 50 posts.
You have til Friday to get your guesses in. No guesses after
For a BONUS, guess what state it will be shipped to. Whoever guesses the price wins the coin, whoever guesses the state wins a few random goodies from my piles of RPMs:)
If nobody guesses the state, the goodies go to the winning price guess. Once a price or State is picked, it cant be chosen again, so get them states picked

This is the coin going for auction, 1972 DDO-3 FS-103 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/265462172708) Nice Uncirculated Red

Wellll, this should be easy .... NOT.
That's a nice coin you have up for auction and the "Sold" prices on the bay have been all over the place for graded or raw.

I'm going with:

$87.89

And going to Pa. (Pennsylvania) on the USPS slow mule train.

The closest example I could find was bats, you took the under and I took the over.:) I attributed my thought process to it being the Christmas week and folks possibly being a little looser, having time off and nothing to do.

I have no clue about buying or selling on Ebay but I will still make a guess of $150 and shipped to Illinois. Hope you get at least that much Jason!!

Sounds about right. Probably the most accurate pick yet. Lol. I sold an 09 DDO-2 in a pcgs slab not labeled. They wanted to return it because it wasnt a DDO and sent me a picture of the label. Lol Then I resold it for more

They better not. Im sick of idiot buyers. Selling my kids action figure, clearly shows it out of the box in different positions, no box in the listing. They get it and want a refund because its not new in the box. I paid for return shipping and they returned it on their own. So I was out of that money for the label and they are out of what they paid to return it. ..Never ending supply of these geniuses

Only 5 entries? Ok.

I agree and we are even properly "social distanced" so that shouldn't have kept people away.

Maybe just tied up with holiday goings-on or they have been in a sugar coma?

Congrats, Kevin, on a very nice variety and whatever other cool coins you get too, for the bonus, you'll have to share!

Thanks for doing this, Jason, very cool and sorry your listing didn't bring more, really thought it would be between $80 and $100.

Jason,
Got the coins yesterday! The 56 D/D is a sweet coin. That one's going in for grading - I think it's Stage B. And thanks for the 60 D/D's - # 7 and #36 I didn't have yet. The other's I need to work a bit on the attributions...that should keep me busy for a spell. Thanks again!

Kevin

kloccwork419
01-08-2022, 09:18 AM
Should be attributed already. Ones with a sticker were what someone else had them as and I changed it but I really dont know what I sent. Lol. If i have several of one I write on the top one and then band them together. I might have gave you a few of them.

Let me know the grade that comes back. I kept the best 3 for myself but still have the rest

jupiterkm1
01-08-2022, 09:38 AM
The 54 S/S WRPM-024 I need to see if I can find a cross-ref in CC/VV: the 60 D/D 106, 011, and 072 you either crossed out or suggested different attributions. That's my mission.

I'll let you know the final grade on the 56 D/D.
Kevin

kloccwork419
01-08-2022, 10:22 AM
Theres no cross to WRPM-24 and you wont find the RPM on Wexlers site either. If there an attribution on the bottom left, that’s probably mine. Crossed out was someone else that was wrong

Unfortunately, Jason isn't around to witness this, but the 1956 D/D just came back from NGC today. I sent several coins and am happy with the grades, but, NGC did not/would attribute the 56D as RPM-016/FS-502 (as I submitted it for Variety Plus) - just a plain ole 56D MS65 RD. No explanation. I stuck it under the scope again, to make sure I wasn't seeing something not really there, and took some pics.
The die scratch under BE of Liberty is there as MDS for CC (http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1956&die_id=1956d1mm016&die_state=mds), and the stage B die crack on the shoulder is there for VV (http://varietyvista.com/02a%20LC%20RPMs%20Vol%201/1956DRPM016.htm) as is the die scratch into the N of IN.
The only thing I can think of is the secondary D is very weak (shows better under less light) and NGC simply decided it wasn't D/D.
Any thought?

After two attempts (I admit I wasn't very diligent in my attempts), I finally got NGC to research their non-variety designation on the coin holder, and they admitted today it was an internal error. They also failed to designate a 1909 S RPM-001. Free shipping label to return, no fees, expedited service. Going back in the mail tomorrow.

Well the saga continues. NGC sent back both coins, but the 56D remains a non-variety, no explanation. I called them again, they were supposed to call me back this morning with an explanation. Still waiting. Meanwhile, I studied the coin again, and I'm really having trouble seeing the D/D - I thought for sure earlier there was a faint outline of D/D under low light, but now I can't replicate that view. Please look at these pics and let me know if you think it's the FS-502.

Stick to your guns. That is the variety and the obverse markers are a match.
It shows up, barely, in your most recent images.

DoubleYou

It is the variety, just realize it is very difficult to see at the later stages. It sometimes is nearly impossible to photograph these well, and I wouldn't doubt if lesser experienced people would not recognize it, especially if they compare it to stage A, which is the picture that is most commonly displayed, since it is the clearest.

That is a bummer, it is obviously the variety (and appears to be quite nice). I detailed where I can easily see the secondary.

I wouldn't hold my breath about the call. I'm guessing they have their money so they don't have anything to gain.

Best of luck with it.

edit: Is this a coin that Jason sent you? Just curious how it is in this thread.
