How does this happen? I know it's obvious post-mint. But I had to share with you that out of many many lots of wheats from all over the country this is the 5th or 6th I found and they have all been 1945D's... So if one dude did this then his coins are traveling far and wide..

I just find it odd or at least funny.. that over the last year from different lots of cents and bank rolls, I've found at least 5 of these in the same year and mint.
I should have saved them all.. Unless there is an inside joke among die hard lincoln cent junkies to take a router to all 1946-D's...

was thinking that maybe its coins at the end of a bank roll back in the day.
coins now get that swirl also, but maybe 60+yrs ago the wrapping machine got real aggressive with them - did you find any on the wheat reverse side ????

Just obverse has had them.. I dunno maybe it was a marketing ploy back in 46..
