Im looking for an inexpensive digital microscope with a camera, one that is portable and uses a USB price range around $50. Any recommendations? Something like this this (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Elikliv-Coin-Microscope-4-3-LCD-Digital-Microscope-1000x-USB-Error-Coins-Lights-Kids-Adults-PC-View-Windows-Compatible/117263923?athbdg=L1700) maybe?

Have not priced these or researched in several years but there is no unit out there anywhere near the price that you would even remotely be satisfied with. Have you looked at any attachment for your cell phone for taking magnified pictures?

I have had two of these and the only reason I bought the second, I had dropped the first one multiple times, until I finally killed it.:) It does a good job, as far as I'm concerned, for close up shots, not the best for full coin shots though.

I do not know anything about the seller, you may want to research that part but this is the one I'm referring too, just found a random link. My recollection is that it takes at least 8MP to get to the clarity needed for quality pictures.

The OP asked for an inexpensive digital microscope with a camera, that uses USB and that's what I gave them. Maybe not up to everyone's specs but for what I do, it's fine. Here is a pic that I took with it and yes, it's only 2MP. It does take awhile to get the feel of it though.

That helps me out alot. That close up will do fine for what I need.

This is a popular topic so if you would be kind enough to post the results from the scope you buy it will be of strong interest to many folks viewing this sub-forum. An inexpensive USB scope that can show varieties and such with enough clarity for attributions is the Holy Grail of coin photography.

I'm disappointed that in 4 weeks we have not heard back from the OP with results on the scope purchase(s), good or bad. I'm hoping @ericodapro will respond with some pics or at least a brief review.

Im sorry, I thought this thread was dead. I got a cheap one that actually takes decent photos for what I needed, the only complaint I have is that the shutter button is on the microscope and moves when you press it so sometimes (alot of times) the photo gets blurred. would be better if it had a timer function.

Here is the one I bought and some photos I took:

Excellent! Thanks for following up.

I'm always amazed at the pricing for these scopes. A microscope with a screen display and stand for like $50! Amazing.

The photos look really decent as well. Second one is blurry, probably from movement, but the others, especially the first, look very good. Certainly good enough to share the variety online and get comments. Well done...Ray

I should also mention that the zoom does not go wide enough to capture the entire coin which I am disappointed with.

That answers the question I was going to ask.

Spin it around and hold the coin lower.

Yeah, on my cheapie scope, I can actually find 2 points of focus, one narrow and one wider. Mess around with it a little, Eric.

Yes, if I remove the scope from the base I can adjust the height to make it work. Just a small hassle.

Yeah, I don't even use the stand. I just hand-hold it for speed when searching.
