This is a 1972 Lincoln Cent that was found in circulation which contains the Reverse Die used with the 1972 1c WDDO-004 (FS-104) without the Doubled Die Obverse.

This is attributed as Wexler - 1972 1c WDDO-004, Reverse Die Stage "E", and as Crawford - 1972 1c CDDO-004, Reverse Die Stage "D".

This Reverse Die is Paired with a Obverse Die that shows Master Die Doubling for this date.

Overlay is provided by Billy Crawford.

This is a DISCOVERY PIECE.

You may have to send it in to know for sure, they are hard to tell apart.

Wayne, I see the master die doubling on your coin, and you say in the post itself that it is stage E. Being the obverse with the master die doubling, it could be either stage D or E (all stages are Crawford's stages).
