I recently had the opportunity to examine a 2009-S 1$ Proof Native American Sac. exhibiting some of the strongest die clash remnants seen on a proof coin. Normally, proofs go through a higher quality standard, however, somehow this beauty escaped inspection.

Interestingly, the coin is graded and encapsulated in a PCGS holder as 2009-S 1$ Native American with the grade of PF 69 DCAM but with no mentioning of the clash on the insert.

The first attachment is an overlay I did with the mint artist drawing to give you an idea of what a die clash would look like on the reverse. I also did different areas of the clash with a specific color coding that would correspond in the below photos of the actual coin.

Die clashes are quite collectable, and with this being such a strong example and on a proof coin to boot, is certainly a very nice prize.

Very nice clash, wonder what the other side looks like ...

Not too much on the obverse. Depending on how deep and severe the impact of the obverse and reverse dies impart their design, the majority of clash remnants tend to show up more in the field. Since the obverse design is primarily of Sac., therefore, correspondingly there is much less of a field area around the center of the die as compared to the reverse design.

Attached is a photo of the die clash remnants seen on the obverse of this proof.

That's it. The seller must have sent the coin back to PCGS to re-holder it as a mint error because when I examined the coin it was not annotated as obv and rev clash die error on the insert.
