Sure looks like it to me. The split looks right and the position from the date appears to be about right, although I can't measure it well enough.

Dunno for sure, but after checking the pictures more carefully, and comparing the position of the mint mark on your coin, I think it is more like 018 than 002.
Of course I could be way off base on this... so better let others chime in.
By the way, nice find!! The 80's era rpms are so few and far between.

I'm still looking, but I'm not sure if this coin matches any that are listed on coppercoins. As Jean pointed out the MM position on this coin does not match the MM position on 002. But, I'm not sure if it is the 018 either. To me the spread on the top serif does not match the 018. Maybe someone like Bob could tell you for sure.

In any case that looks to be a very nice find!

Sandra,
Can you zoom out a bit on the pic so I can see the whole date and mintmark? I will also be able to do an overlay for mintmark positioning. Right now, I just can't tell for sure which one it might be.

Sure Bob and thank you all for trying to assist me with identifying it.

Here's a link to one I found that I thought was #2. It looks a lot like yours Daggit. The MM position looks the same.

The MM is not in the right place to be an 002. Your MM appears to be more southeast. It's close but not close enough. The MM itself looks dead on the 002, but I don't know with with the location being where it is. What about markers?

I'm awful at recognizing marlers and haven'y identified any on this one, maybe if Bob does an overlay he can shed some more light on this one. Thanks for the help and replies all.

I did an overlay of your second pic Sandra, and can not find a match. Looks like you have a new variety there!
