Looks good to me. Do you have any other pics of say LIBERTY and of IN GOD WE TRUST, that might pinpoint this down to a specific example.

I see the line too, but its hard to tell exactly what is going on with just the one shot. Can you get shots of the rest of the date and perhaps Liberty or God if they show any extra thickness.

Oh BTW, Welcome to the forum

EDIT: Jeff you are just too quick for me
Finally got my "Blog of Finds" going - Looking for copies of the following books: RPM book - (older edition is fine) - CUD book - BIE book

It's possible that evidiense of Machine Doubling can be very faint and isolated where the bounce of the die just lightly taps down on a small part of the design leaving something that looks like a separation line. Does the line end with a notch or does it fade out? Is there any other evidence of doubling like a separation line or a notch anywhere else? While anything is possible, the lack of extra thickness and any sort of separation lines and or notches on the 1 or the 7 makes me skeptical that this is a DDO.

It is so hard to see with the light shining on the ends of the numbers...maybe you could get a clearer shot?

The hardest '71 DDO to shoot and see (even with a scope) is DDO-004 (1DO-003; CDDO-002). Even though I am doubting this is a DDO, I would suggest checking out 1971P 1DO-003 on Coppercoins.com and examine the markers just to be certain.

Yea, the real issue here is the lighting in the images. The lighting needs to shine directly down on the coin so as to create shadow on all the edges of the letters - unlike these images where the light is shining in from the side creating a lit side and a shadow side.
