Good morning! In The Resource there are several great photos of the VDB DDO, and a nice descriptive write-up. Toward the end is mention of a second DDO variety that does not exhibit such clear separation in the LIBERTY. Although not labeled as such, should I infer that the last two photos on the page are the second DDO? These match up very well with a specimen that I located recently (attached). I expect that my coin is the 012.1, and not the 012. Does anybody concur with this assessment?

I do believe that your pictures show DDO-1-0-IV or FS # 1c -012. I would check for a die crack that is from Lincoln's head through the E of WE and onto the rim (Stage "B" and "C"). There is also a die crack from the left wheat ear to the rim (Stage "C").

I'd concur... looks to be a 1909 FS # 1c -012.

Question....

Anyone see the March 2008 Numismatic News priced guide insert ? Was thumbing through it and noticed it lists the "1909 VDB DDO" in MS 65 as $1,900.00. Get out ...

I saw the die crack through the "E" (I forgot to look for the one on the wheat ear).
