Never seen nothing like this can any one explain?
Are sure they are not just scratches?

Yes it's not scratches. The bottom of the curve is rescesed,possible not with the stright lines.The top of the two lines are join together.Here is some new pics.

Maybe a struck through, but with circulated and dinged up coins, it is real difficult to narrow down exacly what may have caused it.
