Yes, it looks like there has been a lot of contact on the date mashing a thin lamination layer spreading it out around the 7. Just my opinion. May want to see what others have to say.
It looks like a strip of lamination mostly retained from the rim through the date into the field. Here is one of mine after the layer fell off.
