Ok finally got around to post the pics I think its one of the coolest (what I call) Hanging S cents Ive ever seen .

They are his pictures How does those dropped letters happen. This is the first ive ever seen. I take it these rarely happen?

Great find and pictures. Congratulations!
From what I understand these are very rare anomalies.
I also have a 1973D with a dropped S. I wonder if our coins are cousins!

That one ran ranks very highly on the coolness scale! I think the only dropped letter example that I have found was a 83-P. It was nowhere near as dramatic as your coin.

Well to make as a reminder, the coin isnt mine but a friends coin, Im getting info dug up about the coin. I glad its up there on the coolness and rareness level. I so want to get one like this one day. Ill just have to follow this one around and keep tabs on its where abouts

All of my dropped letter coins have come from bu rolls of cents. As far as a value for these it would be anybody's guess, as I do not know if any have come up for auction.
