I would say what you are seeing is a result of die fatigue. The die fatigue is giving the appearance of separation lines in LIBERTY.

I don't normally see DDD going that deep into the design on Lincoln cents (nickels and clad coins, yes); it really doesn't look like hub doubling either. And there isn't any DDD on the date or motto. Strange. Maybe it is some combination of MD and PMD with a little DDD too...
