I THINK THIS IS A 2003P-1DER-062T FOUND IN BANK ROLL TODAY. BOY THESE TRAIL DIES ARE HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH.

They made be hard to photograph, but you did an excellent job George. I think the attribution is correct also.

Yes, they are hard to capture in a picture; one moment they are there, the next moment they are gone. However, it is still one of the most intriguing die anomalies to be found.

very nice find.

What is the market value on these Trail Dies? I think I remember seeing some of those while cherry pickin'. :squigglemouth:

I USED TO WORK AS A Q.C. INSP. IN A GLASS FACTORY FOR 39+ YEARS; PRESSING GLASS PRODUCTS. AT TIMES WE WOULD GET SIMILAR LINES COMING OFF THE DESIGNS; PRODUCED BY TOO MUCH LUBRICANT SPRAYING ON THE DIES. I WONDER IF THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING AT THE MINT?

Uncommoncents - For a particular trail die value, look at this site; traildies.com

I can see that trails on glass could happen with to much lubricant. When the glass is pressed into a recess, if there is a liquid to be displaced, it would then squirt out of the recess as the glass enters that design portion. It would form a groove as it tried to find the path of least resistance and would trail off as the liquid was evaporated.

However, glass when mold pressed is malleable, while carbon steel is not anywhere near that state when producing coins.

I see what appears to be lathe lines between the "S" of "STATES" and the "O" of "oF" or is it just my old age...LOL!!!
