All I can tell you is it is a Class I CCW DDO. I would suggest checking CONECA and go through the variety listings and compare markers as to which one it might be. The first hubbing wasn't as strong as the second.

Nice find!

I look at the listings but with no pictures it's hard to be sure. Is there a page were I could see pictures?

I do not believe so and I am not sure there will be anytime soon. It could be in Wexler and Flynn's The Best of the Washington Quarter Doubled Die Varieties. You could also try PMing Wiles and see if he can tell.

But...I would suggest really checking the markers first, one may fit perfectly; it worked for me with a '34 25c DDO I found. Good luck!

I sent the coin to James Wiles. I'll know soon if it's a new find or already out there.I also sent him 6 new finds that Bob put on copper coins to see also if they are all new finds. Here's hoping.

Update I just got a email from Dr.Wiles and he said the quarter is a
1943 DDO-038, 38-O-I-CCW, stage B, MDS. I do believe this is the first Stage B to be found. There is none listed.

I just checked CONECA and it seems there are 47 different DDO's for 1943, I had originally looked at the coin and it sure looked like Die 2 to me, but apparently it is not. Sorry for any misconceptions this attribution may have caused...I still maintain it looks a lot like DIE 2, but without having it in hand it is difficult to tell.

My original post was:

Congratulations Frank you have found FS-25-1943-102 or Coneca 6-O-I and it is a very popular DDO with Washington 1\4 collectors such as myself. I am pretty sure of this diagnosis and if it is not cleaned you might want to send it in to one of the TPG's, I don't have one of these at the present time but I used to. Very Nice Find !!!!

But it is much beter to have an attribution and possibly a one of a kind, in any case congratz to Frank.

Thank You. I am going to send it out with my other 2 new finds.
I don't believe the coin was cleaned, I'll find out when my coins get returned.I am not much of a quarter collector but I by the silver for resale from privite owners. I'll be putting the quarter in my ebay store after grading is done. No problem Jeff and thanks for the help.In hand is always a forsure thing.
