Can you get a closeup of the MM and use a different light angle... It looks as if it is MD as Bob says but the closeup would help!!!

Yes, there can be MD just on the mintmark. However, I tend to think this is a result of a contact mark from circulation.

Machine Doubling (MD) can be anywhere, everywhere, strangely isolated, on both sides of the coin and very often with what would appear to be little logic. What you have could easily be as suggested MD or a hit.
