    New 2009 cent issue.

I just found out that the denver mint has taking the 2009 cent and added a aluminon rim on all 4 cents. There is only LP1 and 2 done as of now. They are high price and only the Denver Mint is doing this as of right now. I order 1 as of now. Does anybody live near the denver mint. If so please contact me ASAP.

Are you sure it's the Mint and not Franklin Mint or Littleton that's destroying er I mean enhancing the coins? I didn't see anything on the U.S. Mint website.

This is coming from a site which this coin is not listed on the site but when I called to ask some questions about another item it came up about these cents. It cost me $58 and some change for just one of them. They are making one from each 2009 cent. It is not being advertise in any web page or book. Only the Denver mint is making them. There is only one place you can buy them. Now where I am getting this cent LP-1 they bought some and They told me that there is only 500 to 2,000 being made. I could send you to there web site but as of right now they have none listed. They have LP 1 and 2 in so far. They haven't came out with lp-3 yet. I have not seen any pictures yet but I do know this. If word gets out about this they will be gone in minutes. I know this is true because a friend of mine has seen them already. When I get a picture I will post it right away.I do believe these cents arew going to be worth there wieght in gold.I will keep you posted. As soon as I get my LP 1 in I will let you know. I would hate to send you there and it becomes out to be a waste of money. The US Mint is not saying anything about these coins because they are only making 500 to 2,000. Now I don't know if 500 means per cent as LP-1/ LP-2 and so on or if it will be up to 2,000 per LP. I will keep you posted and I want to make sure about these coins before I send anybody there. I do know this company does not have alot of them.

To me it sounds like it is a Concept coin and not produced by the government Mint.

Maybe it is HSN like they did with the Presidential dollars?

It's a question a lot of people seem to want to figure out lately. Earlier this month, the Home Shopping Network offered a small number of these coins for $79.95. They reportedly sold out in 30 minutes creating a lot of excitement. This post will summarize some of the information available on the coins. The coins were produced by the Denver Mint. An aluminum ring was placed around a regular Presidential Dollar. The ring has an inscription of the Presidential Oath, "Preserve, Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States." The coins were supposedly limited to only 1,000 per President and were produced for the first six Presidential Dollars.
Online reports state that the coins were originally available at the Denver Mint Gift Shop. They were not available from the US Mint's Online Catalog or at the Philadelphia Mint.
The Home Shopping Network sold coins which had been encapsulated and graded by ANACS. The coin was also put in a special custom oak presentation box.
While the quick sell out at HSN clearly shows some initial popularity for the coins, in the longer term the prospects are not as clear. The coins are basically regular Presidential Dollars encased with an aluminum ring. The fact that they were produced by the Denver Mint and only in a limited quantity adds an interesting aspect, but I suspect the novelty of the idea may soon wear off. These coins may go the way of Colorized State Quarters.

Although the coins were originally available at the Denver and Philadelphia Mint gift shops, they are not official mint products. The items were conceived and created by the private contractor Aramark who runs the gift shops.

So it's the same as the colorized coins (which I despise), Third party company trying to make a buck. Some people like them so, to each their own.

How can ANACS put on it that it is a US Mint Limited Offering. That appears to me to be very misleading as if to say the mint produced them encased.
The Penny Press Mint encased them according to the article.

Looks like they are encased Lincolns which were made and sold/given away as a novelty by companies to advertise there business.

The only difference is that the company/firm etc has paid ANACS to encapsulate the encased coins to possibly prevent counterfeiting/reproduction.

Just as the Concept coins on E-bay that are encapsulated as authentic because there is an influx of counterfeits on the market. Just my thoughts!
