Error Other | 1929-S Mint mark raised, a lot.

Came across this today. I'm not so much inquiring about the lettering on the north obverse, but about the mint mark. It is almost 3-D, if you will. It is raised all the way around.

I took photos from multiple angles, then rotated them. Including as best I could from the side on to illustrate (again, as best I could) of just how raised the mint mark is.

I'm just curious if someone could shed some light on this for me/seen this before?

first off very nice 29s as far as the problem, it looks like md caused by ejection. i can not tell how deep you are talking about, but the coin looks normal to me, minus the md.

Mint marks were punched by hand...the harder they punched, the deeper the MM went....so the final product has a mint mark raised more than average.
