Error Filled Dies | 198(?) Grease filled die?

I found this in the same box as the 1984 CUD. I am thinking that it is just a severely grease filled die since the rims are all fully formed but I figured I would ask. I've not seen a greaser that is this severe before.

has all the makings. Usually I see this on the 2000 P cents. sometimes on the 1999P but one from the 1980s is interesting.

Thanks atarian. When I first saw it I thought it may be a dryer coin since it was missing so much detail but upon closer inspection I thought it was a greaser. I have a few from 00's that are pretty good but nothing like this one.

If you tilt the coin you can usually pick up the date. Not always the mint mark but at least a year.

Can't tell what? Do you think it may be something else like PMD or something? I can try to get better pictures if you'd like to see.

I'm just afraid to say greaser without seeing the surfaces.....though I'm not sure what else it could be. I couldn't enlarge the pics....but I sure wanted to pick it up and "loupe" it.

                I think it's a greaser.

If the coin is zinc, I'd be sure because there's no way you can take off those details without going through the plating and I don't see any zinc showing through. Is it zinc?

You know what, I just assumed it was zinc...Just put it on my scale and it is 3.09 grams. Duh Duh Duh the mystery deepens ;)
I'm working on better pictures as we speak.

Also, the surfaces are smooth. Does not appear to have been ground down if that helps any.

Here is the reverse. Can't get the obverse anywhere near focused to save my life.

I think so too. Dunno what else it could be.
