    Need Some Help!! 1930-D/D RPM FS-502 (FS-013.7)

Trying to photograph this darn RPM has been challenging to say the least. Definitely need help on the possibility of this being the 1930-D/D RPM#2. Didn't have many pictures to go off of, but I'm hoping some of your sage eyes can help with this one. Under scope I'm seeing a curved line from the northeast corner of the primary MM working northwestward. From the northwest corned of the primary MM, I'm seeing a short vertical line to the height of the curved line. The position looks close to that of wexler's site. The full shot with the black background is the seller's photo, and actually shows the affected area better than anything I could take. I think I was getting too much lighting on my shots.

Definitely not sure about this one, but absolutely worth a closer look imo.

    Thanks for your input!

I think you are correct... The MM position looks good and I do see the secondary MM... Yours is in much better shape than Wexlers and he may even want to see it for better pics and die markers... Also Copper Coins needs pics as well as CONECA!!!

Not sure but sellers pics seem to show the mm a bit west of wexler example. Then again Wexler is more circulated.

Sorry, but I am not seeing it. Here is every RPM 2 pic I got. Note the REV die crack.

That is interesting... The cracks are totally different... Could be a different rev die??? To be sure it would need to be sent in for an in hand!!!

I know sometimes pics can be deceiving, but the mint mark in Bob's example looks slightly farther south than the OP's example. Coupled with the reverse markers being an impossible match, I agree with Bob, that this is a different die.

A couple of educational notes. While Coppercoins has no pictures yet, most depend on the CPG which just has RPM 2. CONECA list both. There are pictures in the RPM BOOK by Weller & Miller of both. CONECA list the RPM 1 with a REV die crack and makes no mention of RPM 2 having a die crack. I have both in circulated condition and NEITHER of them have a die crack! The large REV pic is from a coin recently posted on the PCGS form and was the second 63 R&B example to be graded. Needless to say we know very little about either RPM's life and given its subtle first punch on both coins, its a very hard cent to find and id. But don't stop searching yet, they are out there.

Thanks! The coin you listed on the PCGS Forum is mine. So I'm 1/2 on the 30-D/D. It's RPM-1 FS-501, and it's definitely very subtle. It did manage to get 64 R/B, and I believe it's currently a top pop. I concur with the original coin posted in this thread. I think the position is slightly off, and what I am seeing is likely a deceptive die polish line. I'll keep looking though.

As far as the die cracks RPM1 comes with a rev die crack and without. Here's an AU58BN I made in the last batch sent.

Correct, just got it back from PCGS as a MS64RB, and the second one came back as AU58BN. Both are RPM-1 FS-501. I'm still in the hunt for the RPM-2, but I agree that the coin I posted originally is slightly positioned west and north. What I saw as a secondary mintmark is just an arching die scratch from the northwest quarter of the primary mintmark.
