Two Inverted S's in two days? No way!

I fell like Rays luck rubbed off on me! Dont let this take away from his post though. It will probably take me 20 years to find one anywhere close to the condition of his coin! I'm not even sure if I'm right. To top it off, these were found in 40's S coins I had allready searched, and I've only been through about 1000 of them. All I'm going by is MM position, the position of the gap in the MM, and for one the flat portion that should be on the bottom. The both did give me the feeling like I had never seen em before. Think I got em right?

Those sure look good to me! Way to go. I have not been focusing on these, but its time to start! The mint mark position seems pretty close for both coins. Do you think they were struck from the same dies?

I think so?! I'm under the impression that there is only one obv die with the inverted S from mid to late die state.

Right! Now that you mention that, I does ring a bell! Thanks for helping charge my "searching stoke" batteries!

Unreal! I search these almost daily and never found one. I wonder just how rare they truly are? They seem easy enough to recognize but I rarely hear of anyone finding them. Great finds, Mike!

Thanks for the heads-up, MrMike! I usually only search and recognize memorials, but once in a while I find wheats and you have given me something to look for. Thanks!!

Awesome! Those look like the real deal.

In my earlier searches, I found only a small % of 46-S are Ball Serif, so they are already more scarce. Then only one die was inverted. So in theory the inverted mintmark is only about as rare as any RPM, but for some reason they are not so easy to find.

On variety Vista the 46S ball serif is highlighted in pink and that states the MM style is scarce http://varietyvista.com/San%20Franci...k%20Styles.htm the color code info is at the bottom of the page... That should make the inverted MM even more scarce!!!
