    1968 S RPM?

At first I just thought it was MD but not sure now. There looks to be a split in the upper serif. The closest thing I can find is VV's 001, mm positioning looks good but no markers are shown and nothing available for cc or Wexler as far as pics. It looks to have taken a hit on the northwest quadrant, hiding what might have shown it to be VV's listing.

    VV (http://www.varietyvista.com/02b%20LC...968SRPM001.htm)

Let me know what you think.
    Jon.

Here is a marked up pic. TMTL? To much to list, I guess is what that means? Don't get it.... I gave you the only listing that even comes close.

Major edit. RPM, not DDR on the pic. Do you not see the split in the upper serif and the spread in the middle?

TMTL means I was giving you the benefit of the doubt.

On second look, I question whether RPM-1 is actually an RPM.

Yours looks like it took a hit to the NW side but, you can call it an RPM if you like. I'm easy like that.

          K. You say the NW side took a hit, that sounds familiar. Thanks for checking it out and giving your feedback, T!

The entire mint mark has been smashed. So, I wouldn't spend too much time trying to make anything out of it.

I'm like you Jon. Mashed or not, I like a good mystery. And when I see something I think may be a variety, the phrase "Inquiring minds want to know" comes to mind.

I see the upper serif notch but your image makes me see a secondary bottom curve. I've added arrows to your image so everyone can see my pareidolia.

I’ll say no. The position looks a little off. The damage to the MM wouldn’t have covered the punch to the north. If you need a microscope to see a split serif, spend it

Thanks, T and everyone else for your help! I've gotten much better about tossing coins like this but every now and then, I get one that I can't turn loose of, for some reason. It's in the out bin now....

Thanks for taking time to mark up the pic, Cliff!

With all the varieties you find, you might need to borrow Jay Leno's garage to store them all in!! (122,000 s.f.)

I've watched a couple of shows that had his garages in it, more like airplane hangers!
