The old days - approval service!

    Hi
My mind was floating around and it landed on me thinking back when I was a kid collecting coins and the approval service. The approval service would happen monthly, a dealer might send you 5-10 dollars of coins in the mail. You would pick what you want and, in my case, my mother would right a check!

Oh the approval service! I wonder if they still exist?

No that has stopped about 40 years ago. There is something close, a collectors club, you join and they send you coins and then charges your credit card, unless you send the coins back. A real pain in the butt from what I understand.

They still exist, but only for places that charge really high prices like Littleton Coin Company.

I'll start a monthly die variety approval program with most any member- Would be a great way of getting some of my stuff moving! Listing $2-$10 coins on eBay is such a chore.

I'm with you on that one Chris. I'd be happy to send members some coins. Pick what you want and send the rest back with payment.

Yeah- I'm serious- anyone reading this who wants to spend $10 or more a month beefing up your collection with fun BU varieties, I'd be happy to send a package geared towards your collecting interest. And, since it's stuff I'm dragging my feet on selling individually, you'd be assured bargain prices. Thanks Roger- I may end up having to pay you residuals for the idea!

Pretty neat idea guys. I like it. But will the mods of this forum? Would this be at thread in the Trading Post? Just crossing the t's and dotting the i's.

I personally would be mildly selective as to who I offered it to, so I wouldn't make the offer in the trading post to every fly-by-night person that comes along.

Don't be a stick in the mud lady- we're having fun here!

Yeah, the idea crossed my mind too, but the mods here are laid back and cool.

I don't have a problem with the idea, but it would have to be done through the trading post, and through private messaging. I don't think posting it in an active thread is the way to go.
