2013P nickel trails and wavy steps

This one should get BJ excited (unless he already has one to be listed). I've played with the lighting and angles more than I want to, to show all the trail lines and I give up.

Judging from this coin, alone, it appears to me that trails and wavy steps are manifestations of the same anomaly.

Wow, nice find! That is awesome! I have a 1994 P BU with strong multi directional trails on the reverse.

Congratulations, you are the first one to discover a wavy step on a nickel! I had a feeling that they did exist, but never saw one manifest itself. Please send it to one of the attributers (Jason, Bob or myself) for our site, traildies.com.

That is really a great trail die and one worthy of encapsulating.

You are correct. BJ determined that wavy steps and trails were from the same process some time ago. That is why the trailsdie site lists both of them. The following statement is courtesy of that site:

One other point that I would like to bring forth, to avoid confusion, is the term wavy steps. Extensive study of these dies has shown that wavy steps are in fact a form of trails. So, keeping that in mind, when I do talk of trails, wavy steps are included in that descriptive word.
