    Spotlight: 1960 Obverse Doubled Dies

    Spotlight: 1960 Obverse Doubled Dies:

    DENVER:

    1960D DDO-001 (1-O-III) RPM-100 (FS-025.5/101)
This is a stage C MDS

    1960D DDO-002 (2-O-I CW)
A nice Class I. Uncommon, possibly due to doubling being pronounced in IGWT and LIBERTY as opposed to date

    1960D DDO-003 (3-O-IV + VIII)
Also rather uncommon but probably should have been found in higher numbers by die 001 and RPM hunters

Jason... I love your work... Thank you!!! The DDO-002 looks to me as if it were a small date struck over a large... The ends of the 9 and 6 are pointed on the top numbers and blunt on the lower... Also the 0's appear to be slightly different in the roundness!!!

That is the "P" mints... Looking at DDO-001 and 003 it looks as if it is a large over small on the "P"s...

Yes, there four examples that show the use of two hubs, small date and large date Class III Hub Doubling:

    1960D DDO-001 Small over Large

1960P proof DDO-001 Large ove Small
1960P proof DDO-002 Small over Large
1960P proof DDO-003 Large ove Small
