    The problem with one of the uses is that it no longer applies in today's inflationary times.
    It has been said that one should use a quarter in the same manner to measure depth of the treads because modern tires should not be worn that much before being replaced.
    Oh well, one more use for the Lincoln cent has bitten the dust.
