1917 Mercury Dime error or damage

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to get opinions on this 1917 Mercury Dime I picked up at my local coin store awhile back. I'm pretty sure this is post mint damage; however, I can see some of the design elements in the diamond shaped depressions making me think that maybe the planchet was damaged and then struck. Thoughts?

Sorry, I'm thinking definitely PMD...you can see that the metal in design elements have been displaced from the shape, and indicator that this was done outside the mint.

See how the rim is affected? If it were a planchet that was damaged, then struck- you'd have a full and complete rim.
