Error Die Clash/Break | Jefferson counter clash type I went for what?

I have been on top of clashed dies for a while now and I have tracked prices of various clashes. My feeling is that these errors are under priced because people do not really know what is going on. That is one of the reasons for MADdieclashes.com. to make people aware of the different types as well as the peculuraities and complexities of this error type.

As of late, the prices of die clashes, especially the more complex ones, have risen dramatically. I was especially surprised to see the hammer fall price on the Jefferson counter clash Type I.

I was surprised with this one too BJ. I communicated with the seller about it earlier hoping to get the seller or buyer to send it in to be photographed for the site. The bidding was a little odd, but glad to see such a high price for a counterclash.

Very odd indeed! One person drove the bid up alone making it look like a lot of people were bidding on it.
Got it bought at a high price though!

I don't believe that's possible Aisha, you cannot bid against yourself.

This guy r***b( 536) had the high bid at $99. It appears he quickly raised his max to $110 with a couple of bids, but those two bids wouldn't be revealed until this guy s***1( 742) bid $138. In between are the bids r***b( 536) was bidding in small increments to find where s***1( 742) max bid was at.

As noted, bidder 536 carefully kept bumping the price in small increments. Maybe that's just what they do all the time, or maybe they were just trying to get up to, and just past, the next bid. I have seen this before, if you search the forum, somewhere there was a $100 '55 with PMDD.

Don't claim to know much about values but this is a monster clash and I'm not surprised. If I were a clash die collector I would have wanted it badly.

I saw this one when it was originally posted over at cointalk. A very interesting piece. Glad to see that cool clashes and counterclashes are getting more attention.
I read the description, and the seller has some misused terms (such as "double die clash"). I'm not sure if the seller fully understood what the coin was.

3 Half Dollars with nice Die Cracks, 1 with 2 Die Cracks((1 very big goes across entire coin!)) 1 Awesome Double Die Clash to Obverse & Reverse!!! It is a 1983 P Nickel in great shape no dings or scratches! It has VERY defined doubling to forehead & neck & Collar on obverse, Also on obverse the monument is showing ((very apparent)) Also can see "O" from MONTICELLO on back of his head! The reverse shows VERY defined double outline of entire head!!! 2 thick lines that once again are very apparent! You will love this coin! Pictures do not do it justice at all, sorry. Also included are 6 other nickels that have what I would describe as metal flaring...again pics suck...

I don't like the term Simon, but if there are two clash events, you can call it a double die clash or triple die clash. I would vote for it to be hyphenated, like double-die clash. On Maddieclashes.com I would just call it a clashed dies showing [however many] clash events.

Can you post a link to the CT thread?

I believe this is the same coin.
Jefferson Nickel with doubling to forehead & adams apple/collar on obverse... also monument comes through to front & "O" from MONTICELLO is apparent...
