    wheat penny no date

hi guys, i'm new here! I wondered if anyone cold help me out. I have a wheat penny, large cud to one side, no date, and i have no idea of its value. If anyone has a clue, i'd love to hear your opinions. I was thinking of ebay, but i don,t want to make a mistake. Thanks! :-)

Welcome to the forums. That's a nice cud find. Your coin is listed at the following website(#10 on the list)-

As for value, do some searches for completed auctions on Ebay and you'll get a good sense as to what major cuds are selling for.

That is a dramatic example of a CUD! We're at the airport, otherwise I could look it up in the CUD book. A closer photo of the fron and back of the coin outside of the holder would help, but it appears to be of mid-40s or 50s vintage. Just based on the coin's condition and the size of the CUD, it should bring a bit in excess of $40 on eBay.

LC-ND-13A (from the CUD book), CU-1c-ND-10 and CU-1c-ND-13 all look identical to me.
Are the numbers from the Sam Thurman & Arnold Margolis CUD book not relevant or used anymore? And can someone tell me the difference between the 2 listed CUD numbers listed above. Why would the CUD in the OP be a 10 and not a 13 or vice versa?
I look forward to learning more from this thread.

The two look identical to me, but there might be a subtle in hand difference. Maybe BJ will chime in.

boy, they are really close, though! i think 10 is a slightly sharper shape than 13, but i see what you mean! I am also looking forward to learning these things! Thanks, everyone, for being so patient with and helpful to a beginner! :-)

They are the same. Just one of the errors that I must fix as soon as the site is back up and running. We are having problems publishing to the net.

Thanks for clarifying that BJ. I'm sure putting together a website of that nature is no easy task.
