Error Die Clash/Break | Obverse die Clash on a Shield cent!

First thing I saw were all the gouges, but then some looked WAY too straight to me!

I don't really see anything on the reverse, except MAYBE the smidgen of one of the letters in "Liberty" on the top of the shield. Probably a stretch though, I'm assuming most of the obverse design got wiped out in the strike.

The huge hunk taken out of Abe's shoulder reminds me more of a strike-thru than a hit also. Grainy/metallic looking inside. Can probably get a zoomed-in of that if anyone wants.

The obverse definitely looks like a clash but I doubt that is one on the reverse, nice find Frank !

Nice find Frank... If you want I can download your pics and attempt an overlay??? Check the stripes above the N of ONE and EN of CENT... That's is normally where I see the clash from the obv!!!

Nice obverse clash! That is a bold one. The thing you have circled on the reverse pretty much can't be a clash remnant on a raised part of the coin like that. Looks like a ding to me. Nice find!

Thanks, Will!! Yes, that is just me seeing with my heart and not my eyes again I think! I knew those really straight lines just HAD to be clash marks, I just haven't seen one w/o some on the reverse before

Here is the overlay... Appears to be a slightly rotated die... This would be the first rotated die I have seen on a Shield... Frank - does the obv/rev line up normal or are they rotated??? Also I see that the tail of the 2 lines up with the indentation on the NW edge of the shield??? Strange to say the least... With the strong obv clash I would also expect to see something on the rev... Maybe this is one for BJ (trails) to take a look at???

                  AMAZEBALLS!!!!

                  I love it, brilliant job!!

It's for sure rotated just slightly, as your overlay shows. The 2...now that's intriguing! There is that big divot there...dang, wish it looked more like the "Y" on your memorial reverse! BUt wow...that's 2 for Trails now!

Thanks again!! Might have to pick your brain as to how you get the layer mirrored/centered like that. Do you use PS or another proggie?

I use Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10... They do not produce it any longer but I like it... Easy to resize the pics and adjust if need be... Also I really like the transparency portion... I just wish I had a mind for you to pic
