    199? Grease Filled Die?

I believe this is a grease filled die. It is rather extreme however. I see nothing....

Nice greaser! In your last pic, I see what could be a 1, or maybe I haven't had enough coffee yet!

I've always found those varying thickness devices interesting as well. Sometimes it's so severe the letters look almost wavy, but it's usually just sharper tapering.

They almost always accompany grease-filled devices also, so I wrote it off as just a 'side-effect'.

Is it WAM or CAM? If it's a WAM, it's probably a 90, 91, 92. If CAM it's probably 93 to 99. That would help narrow the date range.

Could the grease be a contributing factor to the "skinnyness" of the leg of the second 9?

What is going on above the "STATES" and around the memorial?

Thanks for the updated pics! So... it's a WAM, I'm still guessing it's a 91. Some of our pro's here are very knowledgeable on die design changes by year, one that comes to mind is onecent1909! It would be cool to know if it's a 98 or 99!

That looks like Split Plate Doubling. Here's the link to the glossary, there's a pic you can compare your coin to and see what you think.
