Why are there not any 82D Small Date Zinc RPM's

Why are there not any 82D Small Date Zinc RPM's? All the ones I've seen listed are 82D large date copper.

None have been identified to date. There is always the possibility one would be found some time. Maybe that's your destiny?

Wow Bob, that's pretty incredible! I was beginning to think there was some special mint task force overseeing the mint mark punching of 82D SD Zincs!

No better person than you to find the first 82D SD plated RPM with a DDO and DDR on a rolled thick planchet with a quadruple clash I think the task force was off that day

sounds just like some of the wannabe's I've posted Thank you Jim! I think it's pretty crazy though that nobody's found one in 36 years!!! Do you think they just didn't survive the zinc era?

The main reason probably is that most 82-Ds are large date copper so more chances for RPMs since more dies were used.
There are way less zinc small date Ds and even less zinc large date Ds.

Thank you Ed! I wasn't aware of the mintage numbers, but that does make sense! I have been saving 82D SD's that I find in decent shape, maybe I need to go back and take a closer look

Hey Tpring nice to see you! I only kept the nicer ones, but in 5 years I have a roll each of 82 P&D SD Zinc and 2 rolls of copper 82P SD. I'll look back at the Denver ones but the D mint mark for 82 was real chunky, seems like it would be a difficult one to see an RPM on.

Viv, you are doing great if you put together a roll of SD-P zincs and a roll of LD-D zincs. Those are tougher to find than others.

For the Ds, out here where most cents are Ds... Rough guess, out of 100 82-Ds that I get maybe 85 will be LD coppers, maybe 12 SD zincs and maybe 3 LD zincs.

People say the SD-P zinc is the toughest type but for me that LD-D zinc is at least as tough.

Thank you Ed! I do not have a roll of 82 LD-D zincs, just a few that are Ed System worthy. I started saving 82 SD's back when I started searching Lincolns because I read somewhere that they were not easy to find in high grade. I didn't realize that the LD-D zincs were tough to find too!

Here is an image of the (20) 1982-D LDZ that I found in a piggy bank (a few years ago) containing about 12,000+ cents collected over a period of about 40 years.
The 1982-D LDZ was the second rarest 1982 in the piggy bank, next to the (13) 1982-P SDC, out of the total of (1543) 1982's found in the bank.

Thank you Larry! Those are great looking 82D LDZ's! Also, I love the easyzoom! So that's about 13% of 82's based on the total overall of about 12K, pretty low numbers. I bet the others you found looked really nice after sitting in the piggy bank for 40 years!!!

Hard to say... Could be some one is sitting on a bunch of rolls also but as we know the zincolns won't last forever!!!
