    'yellow' cents??

Found two 1964 cents with great detail but a very light 'lemon yellow' color. An Idea what caused this? The coins in question are flanked by a very red coin and a very brown coin.

Reminds me of when Ken Potter was selling his 1983 Lincolns struck on a bronze planchet. They were yellow. I'm not sure about your coins though. Maybe an alloy thing going on. Perhaps they were struck on bronze????

      Yeah, probably more bronze content.

No idea of the cause, but that is not uncommon.

The pre mid 82 are a mix of copper and tin/zinc. The more tin you have the more of a bronze mix it becomes which will give the brown color eventually the more zinc gives us the brass or yellow colors the reds will be some where in the middle if my color mixing memory is correct???

Would the weight of these coins be different or indicative of their composition?

Not in any noticable way. Cents can vary in weight due to a myriad of reasons.

For what it's worth, I read an article today about replating that showed how to make coins go through various stages of color, ending in a yellow gold appearance.
