This makes sense. It doesn't matter if it happened at the mint or not, only if it was pre or post strike.
This is very ironic. The very first rolls of uncirculated coins I ever got for searching was a couple rolls of the Lincoln Dollars. I had a few with the edge errors you spoke of and posted to a different forum asking about it. I was told there it was "PMD" and that was that. Being new to this I was in no position to argue, but I had a hard time swallowing that somehow an unopened mint wrapped roll had been tampered with on the very day of issue.
Of course I understand now that he meant "PSD", but at the time I wasn't sure if I was being blown off, or if he actually thought it happened outside of the mint. I feel kinda stupid now for even thinking that, but when you're new it's easy to take things literally when you don't know any different. Thanks for the clarification and I hope more people will adopt the correct acronym for proper circumstance. "PSD" does cover everything, but there is still use for "PMD" where warranted
Many Thanks,
Ako.
