I could have drawn arrows on the obv. and r. ad infinitum on this dime. I see doubling, trailing (or fatigue) and that scalloped rim on the East side obv. I don't know what the shape on the cheek is or if the ear is doubled. There are shapes and lines on this coin seemingly everywhere. I see the damage that's unfortunate but the rest is very interesting. Please weigh in. (Especially on what the scalloping.)

The 'scalloping' you describe is a sure-fire sign of die deterioration. You will notice this happens a lot on the bottom of the bust of Lincoln as the die wears. The mushiness of the outer devices and the die flow lines are another indicator George. IMHO this is just a case of DDBob Piazza
