    Possible 1981D RPM?

Do you think it's possible for this to be an RPM?
To me it looks like a D on top of the other and clear separation of the two.

I'm thinking it is slight surface damage from general circulation.

I am not aware of any problem or defective punches used in 1981 Eric. Aisha,
I don't think this is an RPM either. I think Wendell made the right call on this one.

Problem punch A.K.A. Damaged punch... It's either 1978D or 1979D with a broken punch... I agree with Bob and Wendell!!!

Ok, OK, educate me here. What I see from the pic on the lower serif yes could be a hit but also could be part of a well used punch starting to seperate. That is what the post was TRYING to state. I should have stated a well used punch but I may be wrong there also..... Sorry all... It's not an RPM like everyone stated Aisha, sorry I muddied the waters!

There are some 1982 D with that broken punch which make the mint mark look slightly like a repunched mint mark.
I guess we still haven't seen all of the possible such anomalies.
