Yes, it is MD, mechanical doubling. Canadian minting presses have loose machinery parts just like we do. I've see lots of canadian coins with MD.

Yes there are a few out there. Not as many as US, which is why I am so magnetic to US coins. Being from Canada, it is a little pathetic that I don't even search my own home country currency
I have found a few random ones. They are (Canadian coins) are a little more solid in texture that LC's but there are still errors and varieties. Here is a site I will generally use if I have a question about a particular coin and its production or listed known errors:
The value of a canadian coin depends on several factors such as quality and wear, supply and demand, rarity, finish and more. Values in the section are based on the market, trends, auctions and recognized books, publications and catalogs. This section also includes information on history, errors, varieties, characteristics and more.
It is not the greatest, but a great tool regardless of.
I have found a few that are not listed on there, so just here and CC, just because its not listed doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Have fun!

Mikee, sad to say, I don't search my coins. I encourage, in a joking but firm way lol, my staff to search my rolls at work for any US
Sometimes, not very often though, I will bring rolls home to search myself. I will quickly glance through the Canadians and re-roll em once I've separated my US pennies.
Can't say I have a systematic method to my collection...at all. Completely disorganized. I think I'm kinda trying to piece together a nickel collection for my daughter, but again, no real effort.
Is there anything you need/want? Let me know, and I'll see what I can for you (or anyone else)What ever you do...do it with passionComment
