    Wavy Step? 93D

It sure looks like it to me. I'd like the Family to help me verify it though. If it indeed is, it would be a first for me to have one in hand. Thank you guys ( and gals) Tom

It is indeed a wavy step die. Congratulations! Have you tried to match it up yet?

Tried, I'll admit its a little out of my league. There seems to be so much to try to desipher. This is an area I need to bone up on. I totally admire B.J and althose who are the experts in this variety. Tom

Went to Traildies.com this morning, after breakfast of course, and gave this one another shot. Found some that are very similar but could not match up any definitive markers. It's close to 018WS but there are some deveations on mine and no matches as markers go. I'll try again when my eyes can focus. Tom

Fine trails you have Tom! The trails on the left are pretty strong...try using it to narrow the search.

Geeze Aisha, Now you've got me really trippin'. I really wish I could see what you're seeing. Is it the area under 2 & 3 in the Pic? I just hope I'm not so blind as to miss the obvious.I'd be really hurtin'. The area under #3 looks like it has 4 steps instead of 3??? I'm sooo confuuused, Argggg!!!! Tom

O.K. Here is my update. I looked at every one listed for this date numerous times, looked at each one individually and these are my findings. I recognized the trails Aiasha spoke of being next to the lower left pilllar. I still could not match any markers in any example. I found this to be closest to Jean's #024WS but no markers match, the absents of die scratches in all bays and nothing noted in the stylobate under Columns 2&3. I could find no cracks or chips on or next to any colums and bays, or in or above the cornise. I searched the coin for its own markers and found some probables but many seemed to resemble plating bubbles, some did not. I am still up in the air with this one. Could possibly be a new die. Unsure, I now realize what a exacting process making an accurate attribution must be. In conclusion, I concede. Tom

Tom, you can always send the coin in for attribution then there won't be any doubt afterwards. It could very well be a new die.

Absolutely Rock. To be certain, an in hand exam will be the determining factor, and it will take the stress off you.
